For Episode 3 of Sana Sana Live, we welcome Fish Martinez, also known as 2 8 Tha Native. Fish is a Native American artist, cultural performer, educator, musician, and cultural bearer with more than 35 years of experience working with youth and different communities.

With tribal affiliations including Shasta, Shasta Costa, Modoc, Yurok, Mescalero, and Mestizo heritage, Fish carries many forms of cultural expression into his work. Whether he is performing original music, teaching music, making regalia, sharing traditional arts, or leading a necklace-making workshop, you can always find his work rooted in community and culture.

In this episode, 2 8 Tha Native performs his original song “Water Is Life,” sharing Indigenous perspectives and experiences around the protection of sacred waters and Native lands.

Through his music, Fish invites us to listen but not only to the song, but to the land itself.

This episode is also a call to reflect: What is our relationship with the land we live on? What are we consuming, and at what cost? How are we caring for the water, the earth, and the places that sustain us?

We only have one Earth. Caring for it is caring for ourselves, our communities, and the generations that come after us.

Listen. Reflect. Connect. And take care of our sacred home.
