Our Story

For years, immigrant communities in Oregon have carried the weight of trauma, displacement, and systemic neglect—with little to no access to mental health care.

The organizations that serve these communities—often led by immigrants themselves—have long been overworked, under-resourced, and stretched to the edge. From family separation to housing instability to burnout in the face of injustice, the need for healing has never been more urgent. And yet, healing is often the last thing funded. Therapy is inaccessible. Culturally competent care is rare. Space to breathe, grieve, or create joy feels like a luxury when survival is the priority. We are a collective response to what community has said, again and again: “We need healing. Not later—now.” Sana Sana Centro de Salud y Expresión exists to systematize and sustain access to mental health support that’s grounded in culture, community, and care.

  • Our Mission

Our mission is to empower immigrant communities with access to mental health services and resources, and music therapy and cultural expression

  • Our Vision

We envision a world where healing is not a privilege, but a collective right—accessible, joyful, and grounded in culture.

Our Programs:An Integrated Approach to Healing

At Sana Sana, we believe healing is collective and multidimensional. That's why our programs, MigrARTE and Salud, work together in an interconnected dynamic. They both support our communities through a holistic approach that brings together mental health care, the arts, and cultural expression.

MigrARTE creates spaces of belonging through music, arts, and culture, where youth and families can express themselves and reconnect with their identities. Through this close, community-based work, we are able to identify emotional and wellness needs, offering direct referrals to Salud for mental health screenings and clinical support.

At the same time, Salud provides socially, culturally and linguistically responsive support services, including psychological evaluations and case management. From this space, families are also connected to MigrARTE, where they are invited into arts programming, community events, and opportunities for expression that support emotional well-being.

This ongoing collaboration and referral system allows us to care for the whole person. Always recognizing that healing happens not only through clinical support, but also through creativity and culture. At the center of our work is community. We create safe and accessible spaces where people can heal, create, and belong.
